I have noticed increasingly the placement of security bracelets in television and cinema release films - eg in a recent film shown on television a young woman with dementia had one on. The use of them is never essential to the development of the script. The other one I noticed was in an American film - maybe one of the mission impossible films. Anyway every time I see one depicted in the media, I

The flight stewardess in the cockpit was the girlfriend of the pilot and she was one of the people that the crews in the fighter jets saw trying to take control of the plane. The pilot wasn't rostered on for that flight but was asked to replace someone at short notice and only agreed because his girlfriend was rostered on. Latest reports also suggest that the passengered were alive but wearing o

In Australia, law courts have been known to rule in favour of passive smokers who developed cancer in work places where smoking was permitted. Gengis - which 'two countries' do you think are joined at the hip - Australia and America? (Just a reminder that there are more than two English speaking countries in the world and visitors to this message board from many of them). I think that if people w

Finally a chance to vent on this subject I am most passionate about. Several times between the ages of 2 and 8 I nearly died from bronchial asthma. After the age of 8, I was no longer being rushed to hospital 3 or 4 times a year, however I was still experiencing asthma and bronchitis regularly. I am 39 now and my lungs are shocking. I blame my 'parents' for smoking around me as child, in the hou

What is the correlation between abortion and poor families? Is there one? If so is that correlation unique to America? I have known a lot of affluent women who had abortions because children would have interfered with their lifestyles.

Most of the smartest women and men I have ever known had smart fathers, and not necessarily very intelligent mothers. Does anyone know how intelligence is inherited?

I agree, my parents wanted me to leave school at 15 and become a bank teller which would have been find if thats what I had wanted. But I was contrary. The more they pressured me to leave school, the more I dug in my heels and ended up with one degree and a graduate diploma, and I am still finding my way so I think there is another degree on its way.

Hi Coggas, Brilliant Idea! But I couldn't hear any vocals - is there something I should do in order to hear the vocals? On the news last night (I forget which the channel), it was one of the court spokespeople/officials who said the the judges weren't moved because they had heard it all before. Cheers.

The Indonesian judges are offended that she made her statement in English not Indonesian, even though she provided a transcript in Indonesian. One of the judges said he had heard it all before anyway. I feel so sorry for her.

If the weight of her luggage when she left Brisbane and arrived in Indonesia had been recorded then there would be no problem. Apparently any recorded information that may have helped her case had been wiped. "The very first report of this incident as cited by an indonesian custom's official has Ms Corby saying, when they unzipped her surfboard: "Oh no.., oh my god..., don't open th

Many Chinese lived in the Ballarat area during the 1800s as they came to Australia during the gold rush. Ballarat was an economic centre during that gold rush.

Thanks Graham and team for the link to this news article. I drive to work past these road works each day and it took a trip to your website to find out that very ancient artifacts have been uncovered during work on the freeway. Hey, its not a pyramid, but still pretty fascinating! Julie

Also, the High Court of Australia is the highest court. Our States and Territories each have a Supreme Court. But I believe it is different in America (Supreme Court at the top?)

Iam going to quote Judge Brennan re terra nullius:- 'There are two competing issues here - the importance of maintaining the reception of English law, precedent and certainty in the law, and the importance of ensuring the law is fair and reasonable according to contemporary standards.' The Mabo judge sure walked a fine line. The High Court went on to affirm that Australia was a 'settled' colony.

I want to find a pyramid in Australia too! I cant' believe that ancient ruins just stop North of Australia. In regards to Pyramid Hill in WA I have a story and I have mentioned it on the site before. I relative of mine was married to a doctor a nd they were working in W.A. They got permission to go to some 'sacred mountain' near Pyramid Hill (I don't think it was actually Pyramid Hill but very

You guys in Toronto are lucky. You have that wild christmas parade which my son and I discovered and watched on tv this year and thoroughly enjoyed and a visit from Graham! Plus you have ready access to winter sports ...I'm moving. Graham, I must say that for such a successful author I admire your spirit and attitude towards your fans.

I haven't been to Mungo but have been within 100 km of the area - really weird vibe out there. I sense that there is more to be revealed from that part of Australia than any other part I have visited. Mungo man isn't modern Aboriginal so who really knows who these foot prints belong to, despite what has to be said in order to gain access to the area from the indiginous owners. Fascinating find th

Isn't the current theory that there were only 7 Eves? I think I read this in relation to the National Geographic DNA project. This would imply that we aren't as diverse as we think we are.

Oh yes back to the original topic....Ancient Australia I recall reading about those mummies somewhere - I will try and find the source. I don't think the mummies were found on the Australian mainland, I think they were found on a small island North of Australia (but yes an Australian Territory - perhaps Torres Strait Islanders). The embalming techniques had similarities with those of the Egyptian

Once the hieroglyphs even made it into the evening news about 15 years ago. Apparently they are in dense national park between Sydney and Gosford but the exact location has become a big secret again. Nothing would suprise me about this. Is it true that some of the gold found in Egyptian tombs in Australian (identified somehow through its composition), and that boomerangs and marsupials were found

My husband and I often wonder why remnants of grand ancient buildings cease to exist just above Australia. I am wording this very carefully to be culturally sensitive as there is evidence of ancient culture in Australia but not in the form of stone buildings and pyramids. We would love to find some. We have discussed this with a lot of people and I no longer think they exist. Having said this bec
