Last fall I attended a seminar on 3-D printing and I was blown away. I could not believe what is being made with these printers. The industry was represented by a company that sells the equipment and two companies that use them. One company was a shoe manufacturer which had a prototype shoe completely 3-D printed in the finished color, size 12. The other company was an auto supplier. They had a

I have one more comment about dreams, I have always had the believe that as humans we inherit physical traits from our parents we also inherit bits and pieces of their memories and we play them back as part of our dreaming process. I think this why we have hodgepodge dreams sometimes. Just a thought.

I heard it said once that dreaming is natures way of letting us humans go insane safely.

Echoes, I think going to Mars is more rewarding science wise for the money spent than going to a scientifically dead zone like our Moon. Many hours have been spent by private companies designing and using Mars habitats here on Earth and should be ready to go when the Mars Space craft is ready. I don't think passing through the Van Allen radiation belt is like being exposed to nuclear reactor.

Echoes, What I heard and saw was the Orion will be sent unmanned into a low orbit to test the basic systems and moved to a higher orbit to test the radiation protection and other systems. This your dummy craft.

Almost all diseases that are called cancer have a clinical name such as skin cancers are the melanomas, bone cancers are sarcomas and etc. You can look up specific diseases at websites like WEBMD. There is very little chance for a one drug cure-all for the so-called cancers. Is there hope, yes. Researchers are working on genetically designed drugs to suit an individuals genetic make up to com

Carol, The John Hopkins study confirms what my wife's cousin told me back in the 1970's. He was a cancer researcher for a large drug company in Michigan. Their studies showed less than %10 of cancers were caused by outside sources. The rest are either genetic or "bad Luck". He also said there are so many diseases that are called "cancer" the term should be eliminated and cal

I really think some species of animals, insects and birds breed themselves into extinction because they don't have the ability to bring new blood into their particular gene pools.

I spoke today with a greenhouse operator and I ask if they used elevated levels of CO2 in their operations and not surprised he said yes. He said they maintained not higher than 1300 ppm. At 1500 ppm it's not good for humans. From what I was told a lot of the plants like the higher levels of CO2. They use a natural gas burner to create the CO2 and a computer monitors the levels. When asked he

Sir, I agree with you %100 because you speak with common sense which is quite lacking when discussing climate change and what's actually causing it. I like to discuss this subject with the people who work in the trenches and know what they are talking about and can back up their statements with stats and actual research results.

I work at a university where they do plant research at the highest scientific level. I will be seeing a friend in the agronomy department this week and I will ask her what they maintain the co2 levels at and why.

Did I hear correctly that after 2020 the Russians will not allow Americans on the International Space Station?? If that is so, not much we can do about it is there.

I am sorry I do remember reading your comments and I thought it terrible we had to rely on garbage cans from Russia to ferry our personal to the station and back. You are right they just may leave our personal there to do for themselves. I guess if the Air Force has an operational Shuttle now is the time to introduce it or the may have to come home in Space-X container.

What is the answer to getting our personal back and forth from the space station if the Russians tell the US to take a hike. Who is to blame for not having a working personal delivery system in place before retiring the shuttles? I think it has been the biggest mistake ever by NASA. Do we give up the space station to Russia?

Climate change was set in motion the day the glaciers started to melt in the Ohio river valley and that is fact. The climate was warming and now we are experiencing the end of that warming. Over this period of time humans have been adapting to that change and we will continue to adapt. The sad part of all the hype about global warming is the fact someone is going to throw billions of dollars at i

Yes, You are correct the webcams are mainly for planetary objects and the moon is a good target to start with. I got the adaptor for the camera and made the modifcations successfully. I then put the camera in my 6" reflector with a barlow lens and no image. The sensor in the camera is about 1/4 inch square, a very small target to say the least. I found my focuser was very loose with side to

I don't think the questioner was looking for an explanation of orbital mechanics. They wanted to know if they knew the earth orbited the sun and apparently some did not know that. As people become more connected to their hand held devices and less connected to the real world that question will be answered with a "Who cares". As far as education goes smart people ask to many questions.

In the world of Nascar racing at speeds up to 200 + mph on the super speedways it's called "DRAFTING". A very simple concept, you get as close as you can to the car ahead of you and let him pull you along in vacuum behind the car. A fuel savings for the race car and an energy savings for the bird.

I know this an old subject, but I would like to know where the ice went that covered North America down as far as Mid Ohio, ajoining areas and globaly. What caused the ice to leave? This ice age ended 12,000 years ago (???), are we still warming up from it?

I guess Smart Meters for recording electrical usage in our homes and businesses can be lumped in with cell phones and other RF sources as non-causes of cancers. I think their are a lot of "chicken littles" in the world who just like to be alarmists who never research these subjects and go by what some other alarmist tell them.
