Mark, A $60 fee to participate in a religious ceremony? Sounds like a recreational "trip" to me. GimmesomeRoy would be there; Baba Fats? I don't think so. Ray

Daniel, Is there a protocol for substance use that includes guidelines for use? I'm supposing "not." If each user chooses his or her own dosage, what's the frequency of use? What's the purpose? If it's recreational, why are they in church? Ifit is Spiritual, what's the theology? Ray

Eddie, During one's lifetime, Alzheimer's disease and dementia are clinically indistinguishable. Alzheimer's is identified conclusively in a post mortem exam. Choosing to consider an older patient an Alzheimer's patient is a lucrative choice for clinical practice that can't be falsified easily. Whether Alzheimer's or dementia, healthful eating habits and diet are always helpful. Ray

Lee, Mahoney argues that the existence of a proto Hebrew alphabet supports the Christian claims of Moses role in writing parts of the Old Testament. The dialogs I've posted go into considerable detail. Ray

Mark, In the last 100 years or so, we've already had two common sense "ways" that seemed perfect: Dr. Sigmund Freud "discovered" cocaine: Timothy O'Leary "discovered" LSD: I think that if I had used common sense and tried either one, it would have been a wonderful experience. I'm just not a "common sense" kind of guy. Ray

Mark, Justin referred to McKenna's comment about meditation being a slow way and ayahuasca being an almost instantaneous way to the same destination. I drink coffee, had a very few beers and a little wine over the years. I know through direct experience and observation about all the substances. I've taught classes about substance abuse. I've worked with 12 steps counselors. I ran a cof

New York: QuoteThese student-led strikes have been going on in New York every Friday for 39 weeks and are known as Fridays for Future. This week’s protest featured Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist who began the school climate strike movement which gained traction worldwide. “We shouldn’t be talking about ‘believing’ in the climate crisis,” Thunberg said during the rally that fol

Daniel, I understand that use of ayahuasca was transformational for you--and I'm so happy for you--but in your book you're going much further. You're describing an emerging drug culture with ayahuasca as #1 transformer. Here's the way LSD was presented long ago: Definitely not recreational. For George Harrison at least, it was transformational., but his transformation was over years-

Hi Eddie, The first Patterns of evidence does a pretty good job of establishing the Hebrew migrations in and out of Egypt--most suggestive of Joseph. I think his evidence for the existence and role of Moses may come up in Patterns of Evidence 3 (whatever it will be called). Look at the Youtubes I posted in the OP. Ray

Thanks, Justin, I think the quote you attribute to McKenna sounds like other accounts I've read. Some years back, I exchanged emails with an earlier author that really wanted to carry out a somewhat formal study f the protocol--in part, to avoid the most dangerous outcomes he witnessed--so I don't think it's even close to trouble free. You didn't mention Freud and cocaine, but that was his

Please refer to the (hopefully humorous) narrative I posted, Naveen. Fats apparently reached a very high state of spiritual enlightenment without substances. If he didn't, I can tell you that I've been able to grow spiritually for decades, following the paths of Tolstoy, Schweitzer, and Gandhi. Roy tried everything he could find--only to remain unsatisfied. It seems to me that Daniel (and
