Hello Engbren, Surely, it is more accurate to state that the AEs did not know irrational pi, but the seked 5 1/2 implies that they did know pi as a rational number - specifically as 3 and one seventh? Robin (MJT)

Hello Ray, I appear to be labouring under the impression that Intelligent Design is just another term for Creationism. I understand the idea of 'Natural Selection' - at least, I like to think I do - but I struggle to understand how it alone explains how Evolution works. To me, something is missing. Hello Dune, You wrote, ‘Yes I agree they used a unit of measure equivalent to the inch,( meaning one and the same,) …’ Actually, I argue that the Great Pyramid’s designer did not use the inch. You appear to me to be arguing that (for example) when it came to the length of the King’s Chamber, the designer said: Make the length 412.64 inches. Whereas I am saying that the designer said: Make

Hello Julie, I am an armchair amateur Egyptologist with one foot firmly planted in the ‘Orthodox Egyptology’ camp, and my other foot hovering gently over the ‘Alternative Egyptology’ camp – consequently making it rather difficult for me to take seriously your extremely unorthodox views on the Egyptian Sphinx and pyramids. For what it is worth, I think that your intriguing thread should be in

Hello Susan, Thank you for responding to my post. I am an atheist, but not, I should add, an ‘evangelical’ one (I respectfully suggest you visit for a definition of the term). Now, I know beyond all doubt that mental telepathy exists; consequently, instead of seeing reincarnation as ‘the rebirth of a soul in another body, (ODE definition), I’m left seeing the phenomenon as a live person

Hello Susan, You wrote, ‘I was going to use the word 'theory', but since that word, even with a lower case t has no relation to your ideas, I did not.’ I suggest that the word you are looking for is ‘hypothesis’ – defined by the ODE as: a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation: his ‘steady state’ hypothesis of

Susan Doris wrote, 'And, you know, you might have noticed that evolutionary biology has moved on a bit and, where necessary, new and improved information has been added to the TofE. The basic principle, however, remains sound and is extremely unlikely to be completely overturned.' Evolution is a fact - how it works is a theory. Robin (MJT)

Hello Daniel, The following is an extract from a Spectator article on memes. Hmm, guess who is certainly not ‘one of the internet’s in-crowd'. I’m now even more at a loss than I was when I first read your, ‘turns 360 degrees and walks away.’ comment. Not to worry; it's not that important - and thanks for your responses all the same. Hello Steve, I posted a link to an article in a British daily newspaper – I can’t recall which one - concerning the Great Pyramid of Giza focusing on electromagnetic energy. Very shortly after this, Doug Keenan posted a link to the same subject but in the Journal of Applied Physics. Seeing the science journal article as probably more accurate/reliable than the one in the British newspape
