There is a "leave the people" out of the loop mind set to all of this, which echoes ancient times ... only the priests and the adepts knew, all others were just ants in the ant hill ... and the taxes were nice and easy to get. Quite so. I think it's incredibly sad that most people are discouraged from exploring and discussing these kinds of topics for fear of derision. Our minds are

Omar; I wondered if you would like to consider another point with regard to crop formations? I've read that shamans from widely disparate communities quite often sing songs and use sounds that are strikingly similar. These songs apparently have been passed down through countless generations and the shamans will tell you that they got them from the spirit world. Many of the patterns in the crop

Omar; may I just say how refreshing it is to see how, after reading different posts presenting various sets of evidence, that you are now yourself prompted to look into the Crop Formation more closely. You said: I'm very intrigued now by the Crop Circle phenomena. If we select Crop Circles as a show topic, I might just go pay a visit to Winston Keech. It would be great to actually camp out in a

I've said it before; why don't we use some of the symbols that we've managed to interpret and make a formation ourselves as a reply - or at least as an acknowledgement that we've received a message! Andy; let's continue this over on P&S (as it probably belongs more properly there) and see if we can't get a good thread going with ideas of what could be used and how. I still think sound is ke

The symbols in the crop formations are not exclusively Mayan though. There are a whole range of symbols used, some mathematical (which would make sense to anyone), some that look like Ogam script, and many that are simply open to interpretation. Perhaps it's akin to communicating in many languages on all frequencies..... Louise

You started your last post by stating: I don't belief in Aliens... So they must have done it with a knowledge of advanced mathematics and astronomy... Indeed; but where did they get that knowledge from? I was astonished, totally dazzled. This was a phenomenon that I had not taken into account, let alone think of it. Cotterell had built his theory on the basis of a satellite orbiting around

Well, this would be probably the biggest archaeological find ever if the 'Hall of Records' is actually found at the site. I'm reserving judgement right now until excavations are well under way, but I confess to being a little excited...... Louise

Reading many of the posts here; I wonder if one problem for some people is that alternative views of history take them so far out of their comfort zone that they become incredibly agitated. I imagine it could be frightening for some, to have everything they have believed in, and doctrines they have adhered to rigidly called into question. Maybe the maxim should be: Be gentle with them! I find it all very exciting, and I'm increasingly frustrated by those who won't even take the time to properly look at all the evidence with open minds. If I was presented with absolute, concrete evidence, corroborated by many dependable academic and scientific sources, that there was no possibility of ancient civilizations having been in contact with each other and sharing many aspects of their

"I do want to mention, though, that black rats do not carry ideas, and only signify human contact. Therefore their migration does not mean an ‘export’ of concepts to the Middle East, but could very well indicate a joint venture in developing spiritual cosmologies, or an ‘import’ from Egypt to India – if one takes the cultural parallels into account." With or without ideas, the evidenc

I wouldn't say the thread has taken a positive turn. In fact many of the posts have been nothing less than mean-spirited. You, for example, appear to have come to this board with the intention of a) highlighting the ignorance and even stupidity of others and b) demonstrating the breadth and depth of your own far superior knowledge and expertise. This is a great place to present ideas and op

I am very seriously considering the possibility of trying Ayahuasca as I am astounded by the experiences many people seem to have had, and the striking similarities between them. However, Peru is a little far for me to go for the experience! Are there any centres here in the UK do you know? Louise

I totally agree. When you look at the site that Amy linked to, showing so-called 'forbiden' foods, it does look more like an exercise in control than advice based on any sensible reasoning. However, please look at this link showing how utterly fantastic mushrooms actually are! I'm fairly sure this has already been brought up on the GH board before, but it is definitely worth watching. Look

You may want to have look over on the Science and Space board at a post entitled 'The Veracity of Psychics' It addresses this issue exactly. Louise

Thank you for coming to the AOM board Chris. I have to ask (not being an archaeologist, and also not having read your book yet!), are the bones and/or site open to other scientists for examination? If they are, then surely there should be some concensus on the dates of the fossils and artefacts. Is this the case? Louise

Definitely! I have to say though, I think the idea in itself was very clever and could actually be quite funny if the image hadn't been so extreme and terrifying. Louise

I'm not sure it's genuine Carol. I think it is just an advert from LG to show how realistic the images on their HD televisions are! I mean, if they had actually set up such a thing, they would potentially be open to all manner of litigation, especially if someone was taken ill or even died as a result. But it's from Chile and I have no idea what their laws would be in this regard, so maybe

Thank you Mike. Yes; it is my ex partner I am talking about and many of the things you describe, such as childhood trauma and having no memory often of horrible things he had said or done. And the switch in moods could sometimes be almost instantaneous. I suggested proper therapy for a a long time, but you can't force someone to seek help. I often wondered if he was frightened about confronti

Just watching it! Sounds completely genuine too. As does her bewilderment at finding herself speaking that way. The brain is a very very strange organ! Louise

Mike; I would love to converse with you a bit more on this subject. I have both questions and examples of behaviours that I think could well indicate bi-polar disorder. For my part; I have been through a whole gamut of emotional states, from intoxitatingly in love with this man to concerned, depressed, angry and finally frightened. Now sadly; I feel intense dislike for the person that has put

OK people - this is new to me. As far as I knew, mathematics is a constant. Numbers are numbers wherever they are. But after a discussion with a son today (about the reported $29.7 billion to be dished out in bonuses by Goldman Sachs and J P Morgan et a) I discovered that apparently the US definition of a billion differs from the English and the French definitions, according to various Wiki an

Nope. And not in the provincial areas either. See this post from a while back: I'm thinking that the idea is to make us feel so fearful of speaking out or protesting en masse, that eventually any extreme policy can be foisted upon us, meeting little or no resistance. Am I alone in thinking this is more than scary? Louise

I liked that! You should have included the Latin though - or at least the translation. That might have been very telling....... I'm excited for you sweetie! You're not only revisiting old letters from potential suitors, but your own past too! It will probably prove to be a very therapeutic experience. Louise

Provided the letter or any of it's contents could not identify the author I can't see a problem. I think it would make very interesting reading; especially as Ladybug says, they were a sign of the times. Although I do think that the sentiments would probably translate well across time and also across borders! Go for it Ladybug - I'd buy it! Louise

Actually; I think you should put them together and publish them as a book (making sure the letters are anonymous of course). I imagine you have some really interesting stuff there; like you say, there is a range from creepy to poignant! Dare I ask - could you put one on here as an example? Louise

That photograph really shocked me. I didn't even realise there were contemporary pictures like this around. The only photographs I've seen have been posed ones of generals and such. Were images like this published widely at the time? We are desensitised to a certain degree to pictures of casualties, whether from war, crime or natural disasters, but for those living in CW America it must have
