Joanne, Thank you for responding to my request for info on the alleged debunking of the "Goddess", etc. I've requested a copy of Lucy Goodison's "Ancient Goddesses: The Myths and the Evidence" from my local library. Regards, Alex

Hello Joanne, You write, "The "Venus" figures have been proven to be unrelated and the whole mother goddess in Neolithic times has been debunked." Could you let me (and other interested parties) know your sources for this statement? Many thanks. Alex

Hello Mercury, The narration (voice-over?) is awful ! The producers should have got permission to use Richard Burton's narration on Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" album. What a difference! Alex S

Hello Mercury, I still have the original double LP - complete with all the crackles and pops! I remember listening to it for the first time through stereophonic headphones (such things were a bit of a novelty back then). When it got to the unscrewing of the cylinder with the "suddenly it fell off" sound effects bit, I shot up into the air in fright!! Favourite track: Justin Hayward'

For anybody who is interested, the book "War of the Worlds" by H. G. Wells is available online for free at: I highly recommend this book. It really is a classic of its kind. I dread to think what Spielberg is going to do to it... Alex S

Hello Briffits, You write: "Brewers yeast seems to work with fleas if you get the cat to eat it regularly." Hmmm, you haven't met our cat, Tilly. It would be easier to feed an uncrushed Brewers yeast tablet direct to the flea... Alex S

Hello EGQ, How old are your three cats? How long have they been with you? Do you have children living at home? If so, how old are they? Is your house empty for several hours at a time? Do you have a large garden that a dog can be let loose in? Do you have relatives, friends or neighbours who could take care of the dog, if necessary? Are there dogs or cats living next door to you? Can you

Hello Lee, Invest in a CD-Writer. You can buy them for around thirty pounds these days. CD-RW disks are not very reliable, so stick with CD-R for back-ups of all your data files. Regards, Alex S

Hello Marduk, The title of "The father of alternative history theory" (but in the plural)should really go to Daniken's predecessors Louis Pauwels & Jacques Bergier, authors of the classic 'The Morning of the Magicians'. A book published some years before 'Chariots of the Gods'. Regards, Alex S

Hello Doug, I take it you mean the one with Kevin Reynolds, James Caviezel, Guy Pearce, Richard Harris, et al. (2002). Dreadful! Appalling! Terrible! An absolute traversty! I've just watched - for the third time around - the French TV Mini-series with Gerard Depardieu as Dantes. Despite much of the dialogue being lost in the paraphrased sub-titles, it is an excellent production. Mind you, Dum

Hello all, For reasons known only to God and Bill Gates (I'm told that the two are not one and the same... not so sure about the Devil and Bill Gates, though), SP2 seems to work okay if you install it from the CD-ROM (available for free from Microsoft) instead of a download from the Internet. And what is it that makes so many drivers determined to be in front of everybody else? Many a time I have watched in horror as some complete bozo risks life and limb (and not just his/her own) just to overtake the car - sometimes, cars - in front of them. Why? What on Earth is at their journey's end worth killing or dying for? Alex S

Hello Guy, "As for those who have their front fog lights on all the time 'cos they think it looks Cool". The police claim that in most cases it's because the drivers don't know how to switch them off. And guess who the worst culprits are... something to do with Bavarian Motor Works, I'm told :) Alex S

Its not car drivers that are a problem... it's BMW drivers that are a problem... They think they own the road, and are convinced that the Highway Code (UK) applies to every road user except them... Then there's tail-gaters... I hate tail-gaters... even more so when its a BMW... Alex S

My wife and I have just returned from a concert of baroque music that was composed more than 254 years ago (Academy of Ancient Music playing Bach cantatas). It's left me wondering what contemporary music of today will still be around in 250 years time. As an avid fan of Morricone I like to think that two and a half centuries from now people will still be enjoying (for example) 'Gabriel's Oboe'

Hello Anne-Marie, Sorry, I didn't explain my point at all well. I was referring to the straight double lines that run diagonally across the field. They are tracks left by the farm vehicle that prepared the field. You'll see them in virtually all UK crop fields - with or without crop circles. Merc suggests that the difference in these lines as they cross the rim of the circle is caused by the d

Hello Anne-Marie, Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well. I was referring to the straight lines - vehicle tracks - that run across the entire field (as with all crop fields) and are left by a farm vehicle when sowing the seeds. Hello Mercury, "the unflattened corn is higher than the flattened corn!" Good point. Now I'm getting nervous... Regards to all, Alex S

Look at the bottom right quadrant of the circle. See the tractor lines to the right of the quadrant? Where the lines enter the 'circle' Look at the 'rim' The tractor lines are out of kilter... I think we are looking at an imagine superimposed on a photo of a cornfield It has to be... otherwise I'm going to freak out! :) Alex S
