hello, i'm born and raised louisiana. unfortunately, most of the people i know who don't like Obama are at least partially racist. they may swear they're not and say they don't like him for all sorts of reasons. But they don't realize that all the reasons they don't like him are the same things they ignore in white politicians. How long do you think Obama would have lasted if he had sai

Hello, I live in southeastern Louisiana. It's a fact that up until the late sixties, early seventies that a black man (or woman, of course) could not get credit or even open a bank account in our area. My grandfather was targeted, among some few others, for extending credit at our family business to 'negroes'. Many whites today are a culmination of at least several generations of accumu

Hello, Ummm. facts on the internet? did you really just say that? There is way more misinformation than actual facts and people find what they want to hear. There are more misinformed people now in the populace exactly because of the internet. They don't know how to search objectively. the truth imo is that the world is becoming a smaller and more global community and the g

hello, thanks for your response. in answer to your question, i recently realized that many people with young children at home tend to be more positive as to the future. I suppose it's quite natural so as to not lose hope and become a less than ideal parent... we with the wee children are probably the least objective as to the future... john

Dear Allan, I'm sorry you feel the need to leave. This forum works best with differing opinions and while i often disagreed with you on many issues, i was always quick to read your posts because of this. You've help keep me grounded on many topics and i hope you will reconsider your decision. Maybe after a short break? if not, then happiness in whatever you pursue. best, john

hello, i see them around once in awhile. never been stung by one, thank goodness! a friend of mine tells a funny story of his little brother when they were little coming up to him with one crawling around in his hand. he quickly told him to drop it because it would sting him. his little brother said back to him, "no, they don't sting"....BAM!! it stung the poop out of him.

hello, don't know if anyone else mentioned it before but i have a Fisher&Paykel. it does a rinse while it spins for a bit and then spins the clothes so well that many light things are practically dry when done. this reduces your dry time which saves plenty of money. check them out. peace, john

hello, you know... in many high schools it's far easier to get lsd than it is pot. and marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or nicotine. i'd rather pot was made legal. a bunch of kids high on marijuana sitting around talking about how beautiful everything is would be much safer than alcohol binge parties. find me some examples of kids dying from just smoking marijuana... pea

hello Briffits, Thank you... I always enjoyed following her discussions with everyone though I didn't contribute much. I'm older but she always was much more outspoken and adventurous than me. :) Please don't concern yourself with forgetting our relationship to one another. It's quite alright. thanks again, john

In the end she was surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully at our family home here in Louisiana. It was an amazing last couple of months in that she was able to face her reality with be

hello. someone mentioned an 'edit post' feature the other day. that would be nice. along with the spell check feature mentioned above, which would also be great. also, i was curious if there could be a 'mark all read' button for individual threads in adition to the 'mark all read' for the entire forum. this would be uberhandy. ! thank you, thank you, thank you, for all that you g
