Don (and all), Saw it last night and i agree with you, awesome. Yeah it had bits of cringingly bad dialogue etc but so did all the rest of the six. I'd rate it on a par with EpV. I was surprised to feel sad at the end, not because of the movie, but because that's it, the end, no more Star Wars. The end sequence was excellent and bridged the gap to EpIV nicely. Most of the 'loose' ends were

Brian, Finally got to see it last night. Very good, they managed to get quite a few of the 'set pieces' into the film. Whilst it's not very 'laughing out loud' funny there are the usual class lines you'd expect. The cast were very good, Martin Freeman is superb as Arthur, and the yanks grew on me by the end of the film. Alan Rickman was perfect as Marvin (not enough of him though). Special

True, I'm sure Maj Winters would see the award as being for his men rather than him. Part of what makes him so respected is that he himself saw his service as 'just doing his job'. I think the BoB series and book stand as better testaments to him and his men than any medal ever could. Truly remarkable men.

Steve, Nearly signed this since Maj Winters is the definition of what an officer should be. After seeing BoB i was blown away by what he and his men went through and i think he probably deserved the CMoH back in 1944. However i understand that due to internal army politcs he 'only' got the DSC or something, the next medal down. I think that whilst he does deserve it, i agree with what one si

Sounds like a good gig! Never got to see the Sabbs with Ozzy, only got to see the Tyr tour....not one of their best albums! Did manage to get close enough to shake Ian Gillans hand once though.... Rob

All very subjective i'm afraid Brian! The Greatest Band or My Greatest Band? Depend on the moment but the greats of (i hate to say it) yesteryear.... Floyd, Purple, Zeppelin, Beatles, Rush, Hendrix, Sabbath getting more recent... Maiden, Nirvana, Metallica, U2, G'n'R As for songs again depends on the moment but One - Metallica (i would put Am I Evil but it's a cover!) The Prisoner - Iron

It probably is right. It's the same as any other product, there's good stuff (Spybot Search & Destroy) and bad stuff. None of it is fool-proof though which is a shame when you try and keep company PC's clean because they are usually operated by fools! My work and home PC are using - McAfee AntiVirus, Ad-aware & Spybot and a pop-up blocker and i'm yet to get anything nasty but stuff sti

Lol! Seriously though the Silmarillion would take about 5-20 films to do but it would be cool to do parts of it every now and then when PJ has nothing to do! Rob

Thinking about it it's probably my favourite scene of both book and film....actually the whole Moria bit is amazing. Yes that roar it gives was just a masterpiece of special effects. Also, forget the Hobbit; it would be much cooler if PJ did the Silmarillion....armies of Balrogs; Morgoth; Ancalagon the Black; Ungoliant; even into the Second Age, the sinking of Numenor......shame it won't happen

Don't get me wrong IJ, i love the films; i've waited years for them to be done and PJ did a much better job than i could have ever thought possible. Somehow he managed to portray/depict the people and places almost exactly as i imagined them, uncanny! Basically the only gripe i have is him not doing the Scouring but i totally understand his reasons for not doing so since as you say the films ar

Oh yeah, Tad Williams - Memory, Sorrow, Thorn series fantastic! There's plenty of good authors out there actually but they are all writing similar stuff eg Feist, Goodkind, Jordan, Gemmell, Drake, Eddings, Brooks. The better ones IMO are Hobb, Williams, Moorcock, Donaldson With the best being GRR Martin and Tolkein Rob

Hi Gryphon, I found Moorcock to be very variable....Elric, Von Bek, Count Brass were excellent but his other stuff was a bit, well, 60's if you know what i mean! Ender's Game was great, the rest of the series poor. David Eddings i loved at the time but a bit like Feists stuff it's all a bit 'fluffy' and generic these days :) Robert Jordan's series WOT was excellent until about book 4/5 then j

Hi Doug, IMO the directors cuts ARE the films; the others were just to please the attention lacking ordinary joe and a jittery cinema industry! No, i pretty sure the last film extended version doesn't include the Scouring..............i'm not happy :-(.....he stayed so true to the books in many places and yet he missed the point of the Scouring! I guess it would have meant running into a fourt

Magician was pretty good but a fit to 'fluffy and cuddly' for me these days! I've moved on to 'gritty realism' sci-fi/fantasy. George RR Martins Game of Thrones is probably the best fantasy series i've ever read. Stephen Donaldsons Gap series is the best sci-fi by miles but not for everyone. LOTR, well nothing to say really - it's unassailable. Cannot believe Jackson didn't do Scouring of the

My two penneth... B5 was the best sci-show of the time and to be honest not much has touched it since. The reason it was so good was its long term story rather than a soap in space as TNG etc were and ...well what Merc said basically! Didn't really end properly though too many unanswered questions.... Er...apart from the 1977 landmark ;) Usual Supects & Fight Club - totally diferent movies on 2nd viewing. LOTR - 'Fly you fools...' Recent realistic war movies - Saving Pte Ryan, Blackhawk Dwn - should be required viewing for politicians. Python but not Meaning of Life - that was just odd! Excalibur - 'Any man who would be a knight and follow a King....follow me.' Nikita - best foreign

KB1 was not too hot but if you are into martial art movies its not bad. KB2 was excellent though....the scene with Pai Mei was just classic. Tarantino should have stuck to the KB2 style for both films and shortened it into one movie. Worst film i've seen recently though - Van Helsing...what was the point? How about The Assassin? Nikita was fantastic, why does Hollywood slaughter internationa
