For fantasy for grown-ups i cannot recommend The Song of Ice and Fire series by G.R.R.Martin. (Trilogy but now up to 6 or 7 books) Starting with The Game of Thrones, the series doesn't pull any pucnhes and avoids the 'young-son-of-a-king-killed-by-evil-brother-grows-up-to-be-a-hero' storyline. It's the best series i've read since Tolkein, brilliant characters, awesome plot. Currently re-readi

If we (the poms) hadn't thrown a few wickets away it might be a different story. There's still a bit of hope if KP and Jones can bat until tea today. Ok so that's not going to happen but its more than we could have hoped for yesterday. Pontings decision to bat again looks less of a good idea now, and if it rains i will laugh my behind off! As you say, it's only the start and letting us bat ag

CA, cool questions from your son by the way. [1] Change it to what between nothing and everything and your answer is 'something' [2] The bit of your body called the 'tongue' - no but it's all connected so you could answer yes reasonably confidently. Stun guns have a tendancy to set off explosives strapped to suicide bombers. Menezes was thought to have been a suicide bomber. Allegedly.

CA, Genghis and his sons are a very interesting period of history. The Mongols got some bad press i think, as from Europes point of view they were the barbarians. In actuality the mongol empire was quite liberal with tolerance for many different cultures and religions. Sure they had some tendancies that seem barabaric to our eyes but nothing out of the ordinary for their times. Genghis reall

Funny thing is Steve they got elected on an anti-corruption and anti-sleaze ticket, laughable isn't it? Or rather it would be if anybody seemed to care but as the voting public seem to have zero interest with politics in general, they'll keep on getting away with it. Rob

Wasn't sure where to post this as it's not exactly science but is still quite a cool bit of video. Shows that Guiness are still producing top quailty commercials. noitulovE Beware it's a 16MB quicktime movie. Enjoy!

Fuzzy, Agree with you about images and urls thats what the profile should be for. As for spam, that's just wrong. But for quotes at the bottom of sigs, as long as it's within the CoC and not too huge where's the problem. Also surely it takes more CPU time/RAM/whatever to change every single sig on all your posts than to just change the sig for any subsequent posts. It also looks weird if peo

We did it, good grief i can hardly believe it. Well done KP, along with Colly and Gilo they managed to get us out of a hole and finally bring home the 'urn'. Top series and cricket was the ultimate winner. That man Warne, kept Aus in the hunt impressively but i'll bet he's rueing dropping Kev!

Dare i say we've got the ashes? Looks like we've done it thanks to Kev, wonderful innings at such a crucial time. To bat to 142* against Warne and McGrath when under the kosh is fantastic. Should Vaughan declare and give the Aussies a crack? Might be fun but then again he'd be crucified if they managed it...........

This is unbearable, surely we can't lose the Ashes now, they were sooooo close. Let's hope Colly can justify his inclusion and take us through until tea. Whilst a 20-20 style run chase for 200 odd would no doubt be enthralling i don't think my nerves could stand it! Come on England only another 35 overs to bat through. Hat off to Warne he is deservedly the greatest bowler ever, he never gives

21. Re: And
'cometh the hour, cometh the man' let's hope that man isn't Anderson or Warne. Freddie would be perfect, maybe the weather will do it for us. To be honest it's that bad that i'd be happy with anything happening except an Aussie win!

I figured Australia would want as much time to play as possible and would only come off for rain. Still it helps us so i ain't complaining, hopefully give us time to regroup and come out fighting.

>Now Im biting my nails.. You have some left? Looks like we'll be going down to the wire on this one again. 373 was pretty good considering it was 131/4; but will it be enough now that the weather is going to be fine? Going to need some tight bowling to make a the Aussies fight for it. Now the weather isn't an issue there won't be a draw and i reckon it's poised 50:50 at the moment.

Phew, made it! A bit disappointing after Freddie and Strauss got going, but all in all i'm happy to still have some wickets left after being 131/4. Not out of the woods by a long shot and full kudos to Warney, bowling 34(!) overs today for 5 wickets has made a game of it otherwise we'd be 317/2 and home and dry.

Well done Fred, and Strauss is a wonder holding the innings together. Hopefully no more wickets down today and it'll be a job well done. Bit of time to go yet though, so lets see what Colly's made off.
