Assuming China's professionals, trades people and laborers don't make nearly as much as their counterparts in the US they wouldn't need as big of a military budget to accomplish and maintain the same build up as the US would they? degiem1

Face it folks, if you're going to train any generation for a "Holy War", no matter what their religion, then the first thing you have to get rid of is the truth. Seems it has a nasty habit of getting in the way of Religiopolitical Ideologies. Hitler knew this and so did Pol Pot (sp), Kim Jong Il (sp) and papa before him, Jim Jones, David Koresh (sp), etc. I also have no doubt that oth

First, I don't care what date or even if they did. My point was: To create a standing army made up of Afghanistani women who would, more than anyone, have just cause not to let the Taliban come back to power. This, I think, would give them a great leap towards empowerment and control of their own lives as well as providing a constant bulwark against a Taliban resurgence in THEIR country. degie

Then if they stay that way they are perpetually doomed to suffer at the whims of men who consider them lesser beings. degiem1

Hence the idea of making them into Afghanistan's standing army and empowering THEM. Once done, and of course having proven themselves, they may start to be seen by the menfolk as more than just combination cook/dish and clothes washer/ baby incubators. degiem1

I'm beginning to think the allies are training the wrong people (men) for the Afghan Army and Police Forces. They should disband them and start training only women for these positions. I mean think about it, who would have the greatest reason to fight a prolonged battle against the Taliban moreso than the women who would be forced to suffer at their hands should the Taliban come to power again? Hi Deano; I agree, some of the stuff floating around the internet on 911 is just rediculous. That best I've heard so far was from a poster on another board who said it was impossible for "unskilled" terrorists to fly a jetliner at "treetop level" into the World Trade Center buildings. Unskilled: These guys had adequit (sp) training to fly a jetliner already in the air. Tr

Hi laughin; In reference to your above post: Had a terrorist group from the US flown four fully fueled jetliners with Chinese civilians aboard into some Chinese civilian populated highrise buildings as well as a Chinese Military establishment (much as Al Qeada in Afghanistan did in the US) killing those selfsame people and had the US Government refused to hand over, or even bring to trial thems

Hi Lee Lee wrote: >Xmas has become more of a secular holiday than a religious one. Apart from the way it is spelled, it isn't associated that much with Jesus any more. Hi Lee, Lee wrote: >The ads never mention Jesus or Christ. The only way you know they are targeting Christmas is that the person in the ad is wearing a Santa cap, but that's not a symbol of Christianity, is it? Though the Santa cap is not a symbol of Christianity per say it has become associated with Christmas and Christmas is a distinctly Christian Religious Tradition as far as I know. I d

From this interview it seems that the Atheists are targeting Christianity. Have they taken out ads during Hannika (sp) or Ramadan (sp) or other religions during their religious holidays? If not are they targetting Christianity only or are they simply afraid of the reprocussions (sp) of targetting the other religions? Do they have chapters in, say, Saudi Arabia to "reach out" to other

114. Imagine
Imagine if you had the ability to go back in time a couple of hundred years ago, in America, and you told the plantation slaves that in the future not only would their offspring see freedom and the right to vote but that an African American would become President of the most powerful country in the world. You'd probably be met with an incredulous stare (who's this nut?) or outright laughter. Yet

I understand his point but his math is a bit in error: 85,000,000,000.00 divided by 200,000,000.00 equals 425.00 dollars per person 18+ NOT 425,000.00 a bit less than what your friend stated drrayeye. However, I agree that the money would be better spent helping those people who are losing their homes. Since they amount to considerably less in number than the 200,000,000 persons 18+ it would m

I'm a bit confused. Are you saying that if we bought less of these countries' products that these "slaves" would be freed or that if they are being payed scant wages our decrease in buying their product would cause an increase in the workers' pay? Somehow I don't see that happening. If, however, you mean that we as consumers boycot these countries' products as a political tool to force

Over population is also a huge factor in poverty. In some countries womens rights are non-existent and cultural values dictate large families because the women can't say no or can't have any form of planned parenthood, hence a vastly and ever increasing population. All these extra people grow up and look for a sustainable livelyhood and then repeat the process by producing more large families,

It is my understanding that Public Schools in the U.S. are State funded and managed. If this is so then doesn't the seperation of State and Religion idea apply here. If you are using a tax-payer funded Public Institution to teach what is essentially a religious version of evolution then you are in violation of the seperation of State and Religion and this, I believe, is the crux of the issue. Any

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread so this might have been covered already. Let us suppose that Creation Theory was allowed to be taught in schools as an alternative to Darwin's Theory. What then? Who's version of Creation Theory should be taught? Judao-Christian-Muslim, Hindu, Bhudist, Hopi, Mayan, Incan, Taoist, Shinto, etc, etc, etc...? Maybe some group might fight for the right t
