I am leaning in that direction also (so far) as I haven't really seen anything to convince me that it was a Jackal over its present state. Yes, I know there have been many restorations but that does not mean that the actual animal was changed at any point. The head, in my opinion, is obviously not original; it smacks of later date, less refined AE works that lacked the perfection of alleged earl

I think I should also mention that I actually dont care one way or the other as to the Sphinx's original animal identity. I have no vested interest or otherwise as to its identity - I just would like to be able to get a fairly conclusive idea of what it actually was so that we can move forward with a bit more truth.

Ah, thank you for clarifying that restoration image. One thing though; what motivation would they have had for changing the Paws? It seems that the Sphinx only barely represented an animal at that point, so why make the effort to change what animal it was supposed to be? Thanks for that. The colour can be a bit hard to distinguish on the paws but it appears that those restorations were pre 1800’s? Hi Thanos and thank you for taking the time to respond and point me in the direction of your earlier thread. Anubis as the Sphinx certainly makes sense from a Necropolis standpoint, however, I see more in common with the body of a Lion than that of a Jackal, especially when comparing to other Egyptian artistic portrayals of both respective animals. The number of toes on the paw is, in my op

I don't really accept the notion that this is proof of anything, other than stonework was regularly being moved around at the time via boat. There is no mention of what (let alone how many) projects that this stone was being used or potentially used for nor where it was going to be used. It is indeed a stretch to say that this is proof of Khufu constructing the Great Pyramid. It certainly

Hello all, Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered before; I completed a quick search and couldn't find anything, so I thought I might as well just post it and see what comes back. And yes, yes - I am new here and looking forward to contributing as much as I can. As the title suggests, I would like to quickly address the speculation about the Sphinx and its alleged identity p
