Not only has he not tried to stop Putin, he is aiding him. The career professional DNI was fired, and a loyalist (b)noob with no intelligence experience has been appointed. His first act? Fire more of the competent career people, and demand the info on how the US intelligence services know the Russians are trying to interfere again. This is Trump's GOP! https://www.yahoo.com/news/ilhan-omar-challenger-literally-run-093551996.html Quote It’s not unheard-of for members of Congress to resign their seats because of serious legal trouble. Now Republican House candidate Danielle Stella is trying to achieve the inverse: getting elected to Congress while being wanted by the law. Stella, one of the five Republicans compet

Quote But at the end of the day, I just need someone to vote for to get Trump away from the seat of power. He is unfit, and I'm voting to replace him with whoever the Dems put up. Bernie, Bloomberg, a collection of bad poetry, my 12 year old golden retriever, a flat tire, a half empty box of flavored toothpicks, I don't care. I will literally vote for anyone or anything to get Trump out of office

Two different terms being played on here: Duce (DOO-chay) -- Italian for "Leader", it comes from Latin "Dux" (which also means "Leader") and is cognate with Duke in English. Douche (Doosh) - short for "douche bag" - an implement used in feminine hygiene. This comes from another Italian word, "doccia", also ultimately from Vulgar Latin, "

That would be why he needs to disappear. Stone's survival might be hanging on Manafort's status. He still isn't serving hard time, just waiting on legal proceedings in a detention center. Maybe when both Manafort and Stone are out of incarceration they will both disappear... They are serious liabilities to the larger game, the stakes are much higher now that Putin's boy is President.

You are presuming that he has nothing else to fear than the US legal system. Russian gangsters are harmless, I guess? But I think there would be major political obstacles to calling him in to Congressional hearings at this point, anyway. Republicans will stage some very concerted resistance to any attempts to re-open the matters already covered in the impeachment recently rejected by the Senate.

The Saturday Night Massacre was only two resignations. But then they were the senior officials of the DOJ protesting executive misconduct, not lower level officials protesting misconduct of the DOJ itself. With the amount of damage already done to the integrity of the DOJ by Trump's earlier actions, including those of his previous appointees, I wonder if this merits a special title like Nixon's o

Quote He went from being a philandering louse who has been owned by mob goons for decades to the worlds greatest super patriot almost overnight. That's the beauty of propaganda: it works. And that's how Putin keeps steeling our lunch money. Trumpers are not the party of Reagan. They now believe that Putin is the good guy and Russia is a thriving economy. It's madness. These things are linked:

It would be incredibly funny if it were Kellyanne Conway. But as a "counselor" does she have any ability to take things off Trump's desk or otherwise interfere or distract him as the anonymous person has been claiming? I'd think it would be someone in a position of actual authority. Someone close to the Chief of Staff seems more likely. An "Assistant" or "Deputy" Chi

And then stir things up further in the region he wants to 'get out of' by assassinating a high-level Iranian general. There will be major retaliation by the Iranians at some point. Not exactly a "disentangling" move. But beyond that, General Suleimanni was actually a major player in the defeat of ISIL/ISIS. He knew the region very intimately, and it will probably take his replacemen

I can only hope that Bloomberg realizes it's not a good idea for the public good to depend on the occasional godzillionaire having less than typical loyalty to his class and actually trying to balance things out. He might surprise us (and Bernie) by agreeing with Bernie's proposal. Regulation of political discourse is a routine thing in many other countries we consider "free and democratic&q

Yes, Mike Bloomberg is a genuine billionaire. He doesn't have to resort to asking for loans from German and Russian banks to get the financing he needs to do something big. There are advantages to earning actual money instead of playing con games with other people's money... The real importance of his entering the race, though, is pretty obscure to most people. He founded a sort of "Inter

We had a form of this, once upon a time. It was called The Fairness Doctrine. While it wasn't directly about ads, but about allowing all major views on important issues to be represented, it did have en effect of stabilizing public political debate. Not long after it was ended in 1987, the Faux News network was launched (1996) and political life in the US has been about flooding the world with mo

Fear of the unknown. It's uncertainty that drives most panics. So far, it looks like it's not nearly as lethal as SARS, though worse than the normal flu at around 2 percent mortality. But this is so new that people can imagine all sorts of things. There are already rumors of overwhelmed hospitals turning people away to go die at home in China.

Standard meat markets can transmit various diseases, but the real problem is the Chinese taste for wildlife. All sorts of specific wild species are considered important for "medical" uses in traditional Chinese medicine. This leads to what are called "wet markets", big collections of live animals in cages all crowded together. This allows all sorts of odd species that would ra

Is this in Northern Ireland? Or the Republic? If it's in the Republic, not a big deal for NI yet. But possibly a big deal for the Republic since Sinn Fein does have different policy goals than the other major parties. And how is he going to "go after" his supposed enemies? Just order the Justice Dept. to prosecute? Isn't that particular abuse of power in the counts (unsubmitted because he resigned) against Nixon? This could lead to another impeachment. I wonder if he is klutzy enough to frighten some of those "loyal" senators (at least 30 of whom actually hate him, according to Jeff Flake)

No, I don't "remember" calling him a Nazi, because I didn't. He was pretty far right. Can't say there was much I agreed with him about. But he didn't show the leanings to outright totalitarianism that Trump does, though I have to say Palin did (and does).
