For me it wasn't any single battle - but more the general campaign by the Roman Legions against the Caledonians and Northern Tribes - mirroring similar conflicts that the Romans had with the tribes in The Rhine Forests. For a decisive battle per se, I'm minded of when the Romans finally crushed the British Revolt at , finally quelling the uprising spurred on by the Britons' proud & defiant

From February until September around 100 secret letters and documents spanning a thousand years are to be put on display by the Vatican. Said to include references to The Templars......also Probably just scratches the surface of the hidden past, although what transpired ref the role of the Vatican during the Holocaust may also raise a few eyebrows. Happy New Year, everyone. Post Ed

How deflating, - so a game of good old black and white non-mysterious checkers is preferrable to the subtleties and boundless possibilities of chess, then? But I for one far prefer rainbows to Life in Monochrome, to be honest.

Indeed - I wholeheartedly agree - as it's both insulting and infantile to name-call another poster in one's reply. Polite debate includes saying things like "I disagree with you on this" or "With all due respect, you are mistaken in saying..... " or "I differ because...." or "I must point out to you that....." or "That's not actually the case, because

Those are interesting questions. I'm minded twofold: A friend of mine once told me that he used to take LSD years back, on many occasions. He said that he often met up with entities, beings, spirits, who showed him the most amazing vistas and spoke incredible words of wisdom. They also made him feel blissfully loved and cherished. Then one day, on one of his trips, he was shown a line of smal

Your theory of UFO stuff being due to sinister human forces at work etc., falls far short of sightings of those that go way way, way back before the time of The Pilgrim Fathers - as well as those seen by crowds of people, military and civilian radar operators, police, chased by co-ordinated Cold War Interceptors and filmed playing Kiss Chase with army helecopters etc.

Hi Tom As I wrote in a Thread a few months back, while pondering on what I termed as "The Secular Family", "It strikes me that, increasingly, the West is becoming less and less religious, in varying degrees. Materialism seems to be replacing the call of church and chapel, with the crowds nowadays flocking to the cathedrals of today - the shopping malls. And perhaps Accountants,

Hi Peter Proof of the secret of death, discovery of it, would mean, imho, conquering it and mastering it. People who've had Near Death Experiences claim they left this place and returned. I found one most interesting account, where real Scientific Knowledge was supposedly brought back from beyond Death , here :- ========================================= "Mellen-Thomas Benedict is an ar

I'm not surprised, sadly, - as today's generation are focussed on the Now and the real-time instant buzz of both celeb gossip in the media and the interactions young folks get on social media with each other - thanks to current technology. The energy's still there - just like it always was, but it's far more redirected into instant here and now, instead of being spread around the broader spectru

Is this rule/governance part of state law or federal law, or what? AFAIK here in the UK school kids' behaviour does sometimes get reported to the school by members of the public if they witness uniformed school kids geting "out of order" on the way to or from school, and maybe sometimes if it regularly happens and is brought to the attention of the school (or even the police in some c

And I'll go out on a limb here and vote for a book which doesn't attempt to change one's perspective of why we're here or where we came from etc. This book's called Soul Catcher, penned by American author Mchael White. It's about a slave catcher's experiences/adventures on the eve of the Civil War, and his gradual journey of seminal self discovery during that harsh and unforgiving period, toget

But at least, as I said to CA above, the kids can see another side to the coin of life. So I wouldn't personally use a blanket condemnation of the teacher's skills as-is. Although, of course, one of the bonuses of this website is its debating platform. :)

Well - At least those kids'll will see another side of the coin of life, although imho the teacher should also include a waning label on the packet about consuming it as gospel without questioning any of it.

It's worth well over $1 billion to the Kiwi economy, and I note the following article which appears to say that NZ is now passing laws to ensure that the filming stays in Kiwiland. The scenery descriptions of Tolkein may have been inspired by England or Scotland or Switzerland, but the scenery of South Island fitted like a glove for the LOTR films, and still does. After all, whether in Switze

err - I was not trying to boast, Pat - just relaying my musical experience. And also, in addition to its normal Sunday 1-3pm slot, the show is repeated from 7pm-9pm Thursday evenings (NZ time). I put a lot of hard work into creating it every week, and I hope folks enjoy listening. Cheers Guy

All finished now. But you can listen onlime again next Sunday if you like, from 1pm till 3pm New Zealand time, for news from the UK plus some golden treasure music from the 60's thru till today, - I inherited my "muso" talent from an ancestor of mine who was a composer of operas in Dresden, Germany, in the 19th century, and when I was 8 years old I played the violin by ear in my school
