Hello Thomas, I apologize for the confusion. The intention of posting the question in General Astronomy (Which should really be called "General Astronomy as it relates to Starry Night") was to attract the attention of our staff browsing the forums and to make the answer available to all of our users (as it seemed to me that you may have stumbled on something that would be of importance to many other customers).
I have posted my answer to your question at <[support.simulationcurriculum.com]; . I hope that this answers your question.
In summary, you have come across an issue with precession calculations in Starry Night. The good news is that we already have a fix. The bad news is that the fix is not yet available but is slated for the next update (likely to be released in the next couple of months).
If possible, once we have a beta release I could send this fix out to you. Please let me know if this is something you'd like me to setup.
Thanks for your patience and I hope you'll continue enjoying Starry Night.
