I'm sorry but I think you misunderstand when I refer to "root causes". By referring to a "root causes", I wasn't referring to a conditions that are diseased, but rather to a model that is broken and not working.
For example, if you have a simple engine and water, for example, gets inside the carburettor, then the performance of the engine will be compromised and the engine may eventually cease to function all together.
The same is the case with society, if policies are implemented that corrupts the energy flowing through the system, then the well-being of society becomes compromised and, like the engine in my example, society may dramatically crash, just like with what has recently happened in Greece.
