JN: Robert Bauval once said something that has, in it's elegant simplicity, stuck with me. He said that he thought the pyramids were there to "make us think."
SC: I can totally accept Robert's view here but only as a secondary consideration. If you are planning a National Recovery System then this plan would include a number of elements:
1) the highly visible recovery vaults
2) a dating mechanism
3) encoded astronomical, mathematical, geodesic information.
Number 3 is where Robert's thoughts would apply (to make us think) but, as stated, such knowledge could easily have been encoded into the structures even though their primary function was as Recovery Vaults. None of the three elements listed above are mutually exclusive and Gary and I show in our book some remarkable examples of mathematical, astronomical and geodesic knowledge encoded into the structures.
