Books 1 to 9 were all written and published before the mid-nineties[ book nine.."the art of dreaming" published 1993 ].
Nothing to my mind wrong with any of them- written with a poetry and perception almost unsurpased in any language. It is only the latter books: "Magical Passes' and 'The active side of infinity' where Castaneda's illness becomes apparent and corrupts his writing..., and do not perhaps acurately reflect the teachings of DJ.
I suggest DJ would have been most appreciative of the accuracy and impeccability of the first nine tomes.., as should the rest of us who have been left a legacy the importance of which.., in my mind is unrivalled by any other 20th century visionary[ even that of the inscrutable Gurdjieff ].
