Do you include beliefs in what constituted creation (or various phases) as part of "philsophical thought"? I tend to think of philosophy as a view of ideology rather than simply plucking beliefs out of thin air (which really is where beliefs come from).

I'm now seeing where you're going. I agree re: these 2 opposing forces. I tend to focus on the identity of the Old (and New) Testament "god" rather than look at the bible as having philosophy contained within it.

Might it be possible that the AE were creating their gods identities/attributes along the lines of catastrophism (meteorites) as meteorites cause destruction, but out of that destruction comes life (rebirth, resurrection)?
