hi, there were three branches at least out from the common ancestor:
1. the ancestors of us, Homo sapiens
All were unique enough to develop their own genome, mindset and material culture.
The question what more was going on.
The find at the Qesem Cave in Israel are changing everything, from the swan wing bone showing that the inhabitants were perhaps practising swan shamanism 420,000 years ago, to the discovery there of teeth from the same age that are essentially the same as ours. Who were these Qesem individuals? Were they our precursors or were they linked in some manner with the Denisovans who were like us physiologically and may well have closer links to our ancestors than has previously been thought. It is very likely their own ancestors were in the Levant some 420,000 years ago, and so what influence did they have on the Qesem individuals? What is the relationship? Are the proto Denisovans linked with the proto modern humans. Did they work together, or are they the same? Big questions with only speculations for answers at this time.
