"Greater love has no one than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

Bugger...I fail there...and I also exceed there, for not only do those who try in circumstances of extreme pressure or perception of loss of another that we may rise above personal safety, that we may save another because we cannot accept the thoughts in our own mind that we valued ourself above the life of another, but also that we do have the ability to do more than what another may have the ability to do.

Look upon the actions of any who put the lives of others first - police, ambulance personnel, fire fighters, surf life savers, armed forces - and John underestimates what some folk will do, not for a friend but for a stranger.

They don't put themselves on the line for some 'ecological' cause, but for some 'ethical' cause.

Or how would we sleep with a settled mind?

A greater love means we did our best under the circumstances with what we were faced with, and death may claim us because of our efforts, but we went out trying.

Is that what we, as mankind, should do when Earth has the ability to rebound from anything 'we' can do in being ignorant of what our refuse does to it? She not only has been through worse but birthed worse.

I don't think mankind should upend and die to save Earth, nor drastically change our ways because of our little slights on nature and what 'that' is subsequently doing to us...but I do accept that we should listen a bit more about where the future lays and where we should be to survive what is to come.

Mankind will survive...that is the nature of evolution to go from dinosaurs dying out to allow mammals to thrive to eventually become us at a time when it matters that something from Earth is able to go 'off-world' for a time while SHE reconsolidates during a very bad time in HER life.

Poor love...oh, Mother...we feel for you...and we try to do your best as being your offspring.

You - through us - will return, because we appreciate with full knowledge of what it is that is appreciable. Trees just 'tree'. Rocks just 'rock'. Air just 'airs'. Creatures just try to survive. People? We imagine...and become more.

Oh well...I got back to my initial post lol
