One thing about capitalism that we are trained to consistently ignore, is that this social model ultimately requires the ever increasing consumption of finite resources. That's the bottom line.
I'm optimistic that we will survive the transition, but first humanity, in particular the Western societies, are going to have to first confront what economists call negative externalities en masse.
Only then, will people start to get real in sufficient numbers. For now, too many people want to think we can do this in baby steps involving no discomfort.
That said, I do see a lot of people wanting to make the transition to a better, greener world. Smart people.
