Suggestions that a group of short-statured people preceded the Maori are hugely controversial in New Zealand ,but they share numerous commonalities with what are also controversial views of the Peti and Picts on Orkney in Northern Scotland, and of the Picts in the lower UK and Tuatha De Danaan in Ireland. These include aspects of a shared Fairy tradition that extends as far as to ancient structural forms. In fact, reports of short-statured people, dwarfs and pygmies parallel those of many of the societies who observe archetype themes, symbols and practices of the esoteric tradition. Even the Dogon are traditionally thought to have been preceded in their remote cliffside locale in Mali by a group of pygmies known as the Tellem.
