I feel gratified to hear that, Dr. Ray. Most archaeologists I have meet are, shall we say, a conservative lot, or maybe even retrograde. I received a master's degree in English literature and creative writing from the University of Colorado, so I obviously didn't feel that there. However, Stephen Lekson (who reviewed my book for American Antiquity) is now at U. of C., and he is what I have called the maverick of the mainstream. I like his work (e.g., The Chaco Meridian) and find it as provocative as it is entertaining. I quote him many times in my own work. However, most of the archaeo-ilk fall into the hyperskeptic camp when it comes to what you call blue sky thinkers.
