The game used to be called 'Sparrow', with 136 tiles split into suits, honours and bonuses. There are 3 basic suits: bamboos, dots and characters.
There are 2 different honours tiles: winds and dragons.
There are 2 types of bonus tiles: flowers and seasons.
Well, I might be mistaking your discs and their imagery for birds, creatures/dragons, dots, bamboo, characters, seasons or 'powers' - earth, wind, fire and water - and one or two central players responsible for acting out the play of the game.
I don't know though...those tiles might not actually show birds, creatures/dragons, dots, bamboo, characters, seasons. You may be right after all...currency. I wonder how much a tile with a dot and bird on one side and profound description on the other side is worth compared to a tile with a dragon and dot and no description?
Worth a wife or house, maybe? A pig? 2 ducks? I will go and make one and be back in an hour and buy a house then. And sheesh...I'll get my uncle to make a large tile out of glass and buy a palace. Be back in 8 hours for that.
(said with a little humour, of course...no offense intended)
