Having been associated with a 12-Step community for about 15 years, I learned that EVERY INDIVIDUAL'S OPINION is to be respected and honored. Yes, there were "differences of opinion"(from the Basic Text). Yet, the theme of SUPPORTING THE INDIVIDUAL at the group level also supported each and all's "recovery" so that all could move forward toward better social interactions and communications was the BOTTOM LINE of the group's existence. No recovery could happen without mutual support, or, as in my case, the individual's opinion would break the bond that supports the next individual. I left due to individual abuse. The group was not responsible for an individual mistake, yet the group was incompetent to chastise that individual's behavior. That was my complaint. There was complicity among a separatist group within the larger whole. I did not have patience to wait until the larger whole to get at the complicity and chastise it.
So, I support any member here, new or old. Yet, I also have an opinion, sometimes.
The virtue of a highly evolved being embraces all people and things and dispels the darkness which isolates them.
