This just came up recently, if you're still there.
My understanding is that the Hindus are very explicit about there being 7 main chakras. Since we are talking about one of the world's greatest faiths or religions, don't you think i would be more appropriate to let the reader know upfront that you are introducing a metaphor or literary device, if that's what you are doing here?
Otherwise, since this is such a novel idea, can you offer some attempt to 'show' the 8th chakra etc location, and how it may fit into the larger traditional schemata. I'm not sure if this is necessary, based on your description, as my understanding is that the 5th through 7th chakras provide the bridges between duality and unity awareness.
