I'm familiar with David's stuff and even like some of it so I wouldn't say out of date, just because I don't think he's correct in this instance. Not too sure that's how it works.

Biblical archaeology is currently being subjected to the Sauron eyebeams of mythicism -which I have tremendous sympathy for- and a lot of their claims are being found wanting. Dr Schmidt, who discovered Göbekli Tepe, called this 'holy land syndrome'.
