My note was referring to the varied aspects of Glenn's life and works, including the cave hoax he fell for with his trademark passion, which is why I myself posted the link to the deleted Wiki page. I feel that I hold a balanced view of the man and his work. He did make mistakes yet acted to correct them when he later could.
SIU's coursework repetition requirement prior to its acting to formally award Glenn's Ph.D. was a newly articulated, post hoc criterion in a situation that sadly became politicized. In my first-hand experience, it's the kind of "reasonable argument" tactic that minority-side faculty infighters often employ -- sometimes disingenuously. Enough about that.
