these are click-able links that perform short-cuts. The "Quote" option is the one I am talking about here. When this is clicked, it will automatically copy and paste (with a degree of editing) the contents of the post you are currently reading into the reply box. If the the copy and pasted text has a url in it, it can be broken over multiple lines depending upon its length. This can then effect any url or text quotes that you wish to put into your own text (using the  method).
If you do not use the "quote option" to copy and paste the contents of the message you are replying to, then you should have no trouble at all.
One further note. One can now enter a url directly into a post without using the square brackets or chevrons, or using any of the edit buttons. The new software should now make the link clickable.
