As to Mueller’s investigation it has thus far demonstrated its merit and despite recent attempts to claim bias it maintains the publics confidence and support and should continue. But it’s the investigation into Russian interference that should be the primary focus of the news and that it isn’t is the legitimate criticism IMO because it’s the accusations and debates based too often on speculation that is the true source of geopolitical damage and not an investigation that thus far has not been found to be responsible for a single politicized leak.
I don't buy into the claim that the press promotes “fake” news for political purposes but believe that many are too commercially motivated to be the first and most sensational with content. So, while I would agree that the press deserves criticism and government institution always require scrutiny I have greater concern that Trump has used the authority of his office to slur the press for reporting on the investigation and now claiming that our intelligence agencies are politically biased. Simply put if citizen Donald Trump attacked the whole of law enforcement because he was given a traffic ticket that would be his buisness but when he does so using his position as President to do so that is all of our buisness and should concern us all equally. Trump warned that if Mueller began investigating his buisness dealing and finances he would challenge his authority to do so but this form of attack acts not only diminish the reputation of a decorated veteran with an impeccable record of service unjustly but casts accusations of corruption against the investigative agencies as a whole. To this I strongly object.
It is clear from their actions that his administration is not being forthright with information about contacts with the Russians and his attempts to subvert established channels of communications with a foreign enemy that something is amiss. Giving him the benefit of the doubt over these actions would involve giving consideration to his likely concern about the legitamacy of his election. Unfortunatly, I am not prone to treat people other than in the way they treat others and after his years promoting birtherism I find it hard to feel any sympathy for the situation he has created through his own acts of secrecy.
The Russian Dossier was a credible document from a credible source and deserved to be further investigated irrespective of who paid for it as I believe it would have been regardless of who won the election because it involved a foreign nemesis and the transparency of our democratic elections.
- If warrants were issued because of it then it’s because a judge or judges found it to be a reasonable cause for concern.
- If the Obama administration became involved in the investigation it was because it raised reasonable cause for concern.
- If the FBI became involved in the investigation it was because it raised reasonable cause for concern.
- If the NSA became involved in the investigation it was because it raised reasonable cause for concern.
Note that none of the above used the information to impeed the Trump campaign.
These current charges of a bias in the investigation are based solely on the e-mail communications leaked by the office of the AG to congress about the interactions of two FBI agents who were having a secret affair without providing the typical interagency investigation reports, comments or context. Again, this is something that is not typically done by an independent agency for obvious political gain and here’s a shocker, it occurred shortly after the Trump administration learned Mueller had obtained e-mails from the Trump transition team.
In the past many politicians have been investigated both rightly and wrongly but only Trump has ever attempted to call the integrity of all our criminal institutions and judicial systems into question in response. If Trump would shut up about the investigation and concentrate on doing the job he was elected to do as others have in the past then the damage that your opinion pieces raise concerns over would be mitigated entirely untill the investigation is concluded. But unfortunatly, what we are learning instead is that a large percentage of our country are passive anarchists and this is the result of a multitude of douche bags selling trinkets on the internet by promoting fact less speculation to demonstrate grand conspiracies everywhere.
One has to wonder how so many could be so gullible.
