I think the article is more in line with moonlanding hoaxes, chem-trails, and that sort. I wouldn't personally put "Pizzagate" in that category, at least in its entirety. I don't think the author has done a lot of research into that specific case, but rather is highlighting common trends in cognitive patterns in people who habitually subscribe to conspiracy theories.
We've seen it here where some posters push for EVERY conspiracy theory on the market. All of them. That mindset is the focus of the article, I think.
