Thank you for your post. Okay, I've listened! The tone of voice used is one that irritates - it's a bit 'precious' and a sort of pretentious, there-, there-dear,-just-listen-to-me-and-I-will-help-you-on-your-wayQuote
Hello Susan,I tell you what, have listen to this audio on youtube, then, when you have heard it,I will tell you what it has to do with democracy.Click on this(it lasts less than nine minutes) [www.youtube.com]
type of voice and is the best way I can think of to describe it. Words and phrases like 'the purpose of life', the you that begins after a time after birth, immortal, the you that inhabits the body, etc etc ... well, they are all, I'm afraid wishy-washy thinking. I read all sorts of stuff like that when I was younger but consider myself fortunate that I always looked for contrasting views, observed people and the world around me, and learned which had scientific back-up and which were flights of fancy, using the evolved brain/mind. Long before I reached my present age, I had cleared away all delusions of the sort contained in the audio..
To lead people down the path of thinking there is actually a separation of you and body afterdeath - and before life - is to present a falsehood, an idea only for which there is still zero objective, falsifiable, etc, etc evidence. There is much merit in the discussion of all ideas but when those ideas are taken as truths, then a method is needed to test them.
I look forward to hearing your views on how this
has to do with democracy.
