Unless something is mentioned on either the BBC world news or the Australian Broadcasting new [the only news I watch], then I haven't a clue what you are talking about.
Coming from down under, I fully understand the affection held for extraordinary race horses. Both Australia and New Zealand have had quite a few over the years.
I might suggest that countries experience a similar type of exhileration when their sports team win a tournament. An example is England, when it won the rugby world cup last year. For a couple of days, nothing else seemed to matter to the English as it celebrated its win.
I don't know if the phenomenon could be called psychic. Maybe people collectively just want to latch onto something that may give them simple pleasure?
