On June 8th a rare transit occurs as Venus in Gemini passes between the Earth and the Sun. The last time this happened was 1882, perhaps presaging suffragist movements and the first steps towards the emancipation of women. Venus ruling the divine feminine in the sign of communication suggests opportunities for moving beyond the macho posturing and paralysis of the world's factions. I'm not certain but I believe this transit falls in the 12th House of the US, which may add a much needed sensitivity and selflessness to our body politic. This Venus transit will be followed by another on June 6, 2012. This somewhat new agey site puts forth the idea that the intervening 8 years is our time available to usher in the Golden Age. Just maybe the end of civilization as we know it is not necessarily a negative in the scheme of things. It offers at least some hope that the end of the Mayan Calendar represents a new beginning rather than doom.

June 6 2004 is an important turning point in the Mayan calendar. Legend has it that the principle of light, Quetzalcoatl, would one day return to Earth from the planet Venus…and maybe the time from this Venus Transit to the next, that of June 6, 2012, around the time of the completion of the Mayan calendar is the time available to mankind for the creation of the Golden Age."
