My great-grandmother, on my mother's side of the family, was a Chippewa who I think lived in or near Sault Ste. Marie, where there is still a Chippewa population. There were also Chippewa in Ohio, along with Wyandot, Delaware, Iroquois, Kaskaskia, Seneca, and many others. Most of these tribes had their main populations elsewhere, though. I'll have to research some of these tribes to see what kind of critters populated their world.
