Yes, I think we are thinking along the same lines. I personally, don't like to use the word "pagan" for the ancient Gnostics. Pagan suggests that they worshipped a myriad of gods and performed rituals and sacrifices to these gods. I don't think this was the case with the "original Egyptians", or at least their leaders or Priests. The "pagan" worship was introduced later, no doubt......that seems to be the nature of mankind, never satisfied with worshipping and obeying the One True God.

As for Akhenaten, I 've read your post (good post) and I have heard these things also. Some want to equate Moses with Akhenaten, but I would suggest that he was the Pharaoh that gave Moses the hard time in Egypt. The Bible indicates that after Pharoah had lost his army in the Sea of Reeds or the Red Sea after persuing the Israelites, he finally surrendered to God and was converted. So it could have been him.

I think the ancients called their founding fathers "gods" in the same way the Bible uses the term "sons of God" to denote the ancient ancestors of the Hebrews. They weren't really gods in themselves but exhibited qualities of being the creation of God in His image.

In the KJV Bible we read:

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Job 38:4-7 (God speaking to Job)
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Then in the New Testament:

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Before Adam's "Fall from the Garden", he was different, now whether he was a "being of light or not", I can only guess. He was "unspotted from the world". There was peace and harmony in the world in which he lived. He and Eve only knew to do "good" in the eyes of God.

Then the "Serpent" introduced "evil" to Eve and Adam. Now they would know to do BOTH good AND evil. I think it's rather a simple concept. It had nothing to do with worldly knowledge of the sciences, etc., it had to do with "spiritual" knowledge.

Now mankind has been desparately trying to "return" to his "original state" ever since. This is where the promise of the coming seed to Adam was. God told Adam that even though he had sinned and lost his former state of "harmony" with God and nature, that He was going to send a "saviour" to redeem Adam and his descendants in order to return them to their original state. Much of the Bible is about the restoration of God's Kingdom on Earth to where it was in ancient times. This is why is was so important to Adam and Seth and to build the Gizeh complex... so that he and his descendants would have a way to wait and watch for the "signs of the times" and the arrival of their saviour.

I gathered this from reading the Bible and The Lost Books of Eden, and the Antiquities of the Jews by Josephus.

And as the ancient Egyptians called it, the time of Zep Tepi (the first time) - the golden age of peace and harmony.
