Pot pourri - what a good idea and it even smells nice! My problem is that I have so many ideas and questions that they have a hard time not tripping over themselves when given a willing (and sometimes unwilling after to much beer) audience. Sorry!
I have read some of Laurence Gardeners stuff but I have to check out Tony Bushy - thanks for the tip.
"It is said that Louis the XIV according to official history had a twin
the Masque de Fer he had jailed for years until his death with a mask
on the face so nobody could figure out who he was.
I have read that in reality it wasn't the twin of the King but the
heir of the Merovingian bloodline who could legally claim Louis the XIV's
throne since the Kingship of Louis the XIV ancestors was actually
not valid (they had either killed or overthrow the Merovigian bloodline)... so here we have now a "twin" legend used to conceal something more sinister"
I have come across this before in alternative books as well as Alexander Dumas but never linked it to the idea of the twin. I think I will go Googling to see if I can find out more on this. Incidentally I am a bit of French history fan (LouisXIII to Napoleon) and Dad loved Dumas. He used to read him to me in French in an effort to get me speaking the language! I am, however, no linguist much to his disapointment, bless him.
P.S. I like the way your mind works and you have not lost me yet but there is still time:-)
