Orthodox meaning that for a very long time, masses my family attended were in latin (I learned latin as well). Every saint's day was observed as well. The last catholic church I attended was not orthodox roman and was alot looser in their mass. They did do all latin masses on special occassions but it wasn't the norm. Though I don't agree with a great deal of the orthodox church, I like their masses better. They are infinitely more solemn and feel like you just stepped back in time. Roman catholics most definitely followed the pope though I believe the orthodox roman catholics have been rather unhappy about some of the current pope's ideas. I, myself, think the current Pope is refreshing.

Every religion has different levels of extremism in it. My family was definitely extremist. This branch left Ireland to escape religious persecution and my great great grandmother was sent into a fit every year because one of her granddaughters liked tormenting her by wearing orange from head to toe on St. Patrick's Day. The green symbolizes the Irish Catholic. Orange symbolized protestant. I find it funny but I'm sure my great great grandmother didn't...she's probably rolling in her grave by my just typing about it, hee hee.
