Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to my post. I am pushed for time at the moment as I am about to attend a football match.

As I do not have time to consider if I have anything to add to your individual posts I do have time to add my own general post.

It is important that we respect people as individuals no matter how their views or beliefs differ from our own. This means we should respect other faiths or peoples lack of faith, though the right to persuade others to your viewpoint should always be retained.

I thought this post would attract people who felt strongly about Christianity either for or against it, I also thought people who held other faiths like Islam would have something to contribute.

I am always taken aback by the anger or force of desire to attack those who hold Christian beliefs portrayed by those who hold Christianity in a low light. I can only think why the strength of desire. At present I am thinking of Lee (who is more than entitled to hold his views).

I am also taken aback by the closed mind (in my view) portrayed be these individuals. The incessant desire to deny that there is any evidence of Christs existence.

Jaq,

I do not have a problem with the Christain church adopting calendar already used by society to celebrate their own festivals. Its convenient and not intrusive into the existing pattern of people's lives.

Stephanie,

I think the required acts of fasting & abstaining have been relaxed over time. I also agree that I used a very broad brush in some of my narrative above. I was simply describing my perception. The evocative language I used is also more likely to create a response from people.

Paul
