Actually, I was drawing a parallel -- attempting to illustrate a spiritual concept with a material model. Of course, it loses something in the translation . . .
Spirit, in my view, gentle, meek, unassuming, is rightful ruler over one's heart. Mind, awash in a multiplicity of interests, wants, and lusts, is a poor governor of the body's soul. It is insatiable, in my experience, and deviant.
I suppose you could say I'm a Jacobite of the spiritual dimension. ;)
Ps. All I know about Iran has been filtered through the Western media, so I'm afraid I can't comment on their government with any balanced perspective. I do understand there's a woman over there (sorry, can't remember her name) giving the mullahs fits, though. I think they'll work things out for themselves in due course -- not without cost, I'm sure; but that's the way of this world, isn't it?
