Where I disagreed with Jim was in his erroneous statement that Jesus' story was a "word for word, verbatum" copy, to use his words, of the other saviour stories and myths that preceded him. That is definitely not the case!

I did agree with Jim that there were similarities in the life of Jesus and previous myths but I gave a perfectly credible explanation why that is so in my reply to him.

There are many differences between Jesus' story and prior saviour accounts and here is a very good essay, by J. P. Holding that highlights these differences very well:
