I feel that your connections here are somewhat tenuous.., though not impossible.

The Mexican terms- Nagual, Tona[ L ], go back at least to the Toltecs; and it is possible the current estimate of the period of Toltec civilisation is out by thousands of years.

If there is a link- certainly a possibility- it most likely originated in an Atlantean civilisation, the aftermath of which spread to both continents.
