Hi Anne-Marie
Her other brothers and sisters had differing addictions. But even though the addictive thinking manifested itself in differing ways none of the others could see their particular addiction but could see the others. After reading the book I began to regress to memorys that illustrated her addictive behavior earlier in life and the other members of her family. This familys addictive behavior is in part the reason I expressed in the origonal posting about this subject and asked the questions of how Karma entered into addictive thinking. What could one have done in a previous existance that would return as an addiction? The family Karma was obviously tied into addictive thinking and behavior. You said maybe the addiction appeared out of a reason to have control.Control she lacked in other areas.Do you think this about all addictions or just the shopping addiction?
I think that many addictive thinkers aren't aware of the problem.According to the book it is this reason of self deception that they must be confronted. Some may be aware,as you say,and it plays hide and seek inside their lifes. But awareness of something doesn't mean that someone has control over it or can change it at will.If a person becomes aware that they stutter. The awareness alone doesn't stop them from stuttering.
Even though my friend has relieved herself of a lot of her addictive thinking about shopping, she still has addictive traits in other areas of her life.A couple of family members have sought help for their addictive tendacies. But even though some have sought help. The others still decieve themselves.I see this in our society and culture today. We wonder why the world is going in the direction it has always gone.Regardless of education, technology and such.We can see others addictive thinking but we can't recognize it in ourselves. We have no control over others but we do have control over ourselves and this is where we have to begin. We have to be confronted.

Thank you,dane
