Rob, as you well know, we humans are prone to disregard truth. In spite of their marvelous holy books and ancient wisdom, the Hindus are no more spiritual than anyone else. My experience has shown me that if one wants to meet some real dyed-in-the wool prophets, he'll find no lack of them in the USA, even among people of the business world. My dad was a millionaire who got all his inspiration for making loads and loads of more money by just closing his eyes in his easy chair and letting his mind take him wherever it wanted him to be. Dad never lost in Las Vegas. He won as much as one hundred thousand dollars in a single night. Some of the larger casinos wouldn't even let him go in.
One of Dad's concrete contractors made his decisions leading him to millions by just sitting in the back of his car while his wife drove him around Wichita, Kansas where my family lived. An uneducated man, he called it his "meditatin'". When I told him that he was really an accomplished Yogi, he said, "Not me. I don't hold to no prophesyin'!"
I knew a beautiful lady in Wichita who could grasp the spiniest cactus, squeeze her hand tightly around it while talking to it gently, and coming away with not even one tiny pricking. I saw her do other wondrous things, also.
You're right, Rob. There are not too many accomplished spiritual saints in India. They're humans just like the rest of us, who see no farther than their noses. But that doesn't rule out the fact that all major religions have their origins in India. Perhaps things were different and more favorable for them in the past.
