I believe Life is full of coincidences. I also believe Life is peppered with incidents of synchronicity.
How do I distinguish one from the other?
To put it in very simple terms (for no reason other than I don't know how else to put it), by my initial response to the event.
I find that if my initial response to the event is cursory, then my tendency is to regard the event as purely coincidental.
But if my response to the event is emotional (the hair stands up on the back of the neck; the heart lurches; the stomach tightens, that kind of thing), then I regard it as a moment of synchronicity.
Hardly scientific, I know, but it seems to work for me :-)
