As for science, I wish I had trained myself to become one. At Tulane University, an aptitude test said that I should've become a scientist, though people tell me I don't act like one. I have an excellent liberal arts education, but my knowledge of mathematics just goes up to elementary trigonometry and a bare idea of what calculus is all about. As for astronomy, perhaps the queen of all sciences, when knowledgeable people discuss it with me, I haven't the slightest idea of what they're talking about. Alex, while my wife and i were watching Spanish TV tonight, I felt unusually depressed about this. I began to fantasize about what my life would've beeh like had I concentrated on scientific subjects during my university years.
Some people in the Politics and Current Affairs message board said that Capitalism hurts the progress of the masses. A Mexican illegal alien Amerindian couple in our neighborhood, Jaime and Viridiana Jorge, would disagree with them. When they came into this country, they were poverty stricken. Now, fifteen years later, Jaime brings in nearly 25,000 dollars monthly from his trucking company. The couple are now planning to start a small chain of Mexican sea-food drive-ins. They don't even have their papers yet! Alex, such cases as these are a dime a dozen. When those Moslem terrorists destroyed the Twin Towers, Jaime was in such anguish that he offered to drive his truck to New York and help in the cleanup, but the folks in New York never answered him.
