One day, while my wife and I were in a theater auditorium waiting for a movie to start, she told me that she was going to leave the theater long enough to check the doors to the car. She said that she had left the right door open and was worried that someone would open the door and take the 500 dollars cash we had in the glove compartment. I told her I was certain that she had locked the door. But she wouldn't quiet down. We even had an argument about this. Finally, she calmed down.
After the movie, we went out to the auto, and sure enough, not only was the right door unlocked, but the window was rolled down. I said, "You were right after all."
"About what?" she asked.]
"I should've listened to you back in the theater, when you begged me to let you come outside and check the door."
She protested that she had not done such a thing, and that we had not spoken a word together before the movie started. I started to get angry. "Well, then, are you trying to tell me I'm crazy?" And then I understood. A guardian angel had passed by, observed that she had not closed the door, and followed us into the auditorium. There, it probably set up my mind to imagine some kind of conversation.
This morning, we went downtown to Jack 'N The Box for breakfast. Suddenly, she said, I'm not sure I locked my door. I want to go out and check."
I answered, "Are YOU telling me this, or is it a guardian angel?"
She laughed and said, "This time, it's really me!"
