I respect your opinion and I agree that books can't give the experience of life that is vital for maturity of spirit but I don't believe we need to turn to adepts to be given an initiation of "fire".
Even though Jesus died 2000 years ago, he is still in the world, albeit an invisible presence. The Bible speaks of this as a Parousia (sp).
