You see I'm a chemist by day but for the last 3 odd years my spare time was taken up by physics and 'online gaming'(and since the mid 80's have played computer games). I have reached a number one spot in europe in the past in a gaming community. Ive played games and spoken the language since the Net came to britain in force. Im now 30 and my kids of 5 and 10 both play online and use it to learn. I dont see much difference in what they do to what I did. I regularly visit communities on the net from film, game, science, sport and archeology to IRC chat where I catch up on 'old friends' most of which I have never met in person.
I would say you most likely have seen it become more accepteable and mainstream, which is fair enough. I still feel its very stagnant at the moment.
Strange thing a point of view, its quite difficult to step back and view it at a distance i suppose.
The music I listen to know and is being played seems very similar to underground, rap and techno that had its birth in the late 80's and yes it does seem more mainstream also. Weird.
