My bad attitude toward the MD doctors has been somewhat assuaged over the years, but the frustrations of scientists who'd like to do true basic research continues unabated. My son has done all the right things, and has his own institute at a major university, lifetime tenure, and guaranteed funding--but he can't do the real research he wants to do. Some things don't change.
